Total War: SHOGUN 2 Complete Edition DLC: Every Included Pack and Faction Explained
✓ Last verified 2026-10-14 · How we check facts
Quick answer
The Total War SHOGUN 2 Complete Edition packages the original game with all of its DLC, including the Ikko Ikki, Hattori and Otomo clan packs. On Steam, the Blood Pack is excluded from the bundle.

Total War SHOGUN 2 Complete Edition DLC is the main reason the package is bigger than the 2011 original. The Complete Edition launched on October 13, 2026, and it puts SHOGUN 2 and all of its DLC into one purchase, so you do not need to track down each add-on separately.
This page explains what the Total War SHOGUN 2 Complete Edition DLC includes, which packs add clans, units or factions, and what changes if you buy on Steam.
What the Complete Edition packages together
The Complete Edition is an updated and enhanced version of Total War: SHOGUN 2 and all of its DLC. Creative Assembly and MATABOO developed it, and SEGA published it. The campaigns cover a long timeline, from 1175 to 1876. Sengoku is set in the mid-16th century, Rise of the Samurai covers the 12th-century Gempei War, and Fall of the Samurai begins in 1864 with the Boshin War.
Because the packs span three eras, it helps to know which content belongs to which campaign before you start. Clan packs mostly add new playable identities, unit packs change what your armies can field, and faction packs add new bonuses to the Fall of the Samurai setting.
Clan packs: Otomo, Ikko Ikki and Hattori
The clan packs are the most visible additions for most players. Here is a quick overview.
| Pack | Focus | Standout feature |
|---|---|---|
| Otomo Clan Pack | Bungo, Kyushu clan | Master Gunners trait and Portuguese Tercos |
| Ikko Ikki Clan Pack | Warrior-monk clan from Kaga | Eight unique unit variants and an Ikko Ikki Monk agent |
| Hattori Clan Pack | Iga clan | Masters of Iga-ryu ninjutsu |
The Otomo pack is built around gunpowder. Its Master Gunners trait makes gunpowder units cheaper, makes missionary actions cheaper, improves conversion to Christianity, and speeds up Matchlock Ashigaru imports. It also adds a Leased land building and a Jesuit building chain. The Ikko Ikki pack gives the warrior-monk clan its own skill trees, and it adds a Warrior Nun unit that other clans can use. The Hattori pack centers on ninja tactics, with the Hattori clan as masters of Iga-ryu ninjutsu.
Unit and hero packs
The Saints and Heroes pack adds nine hero units. They include Kiyomasa's Katana Cavalry, Yoritomo's Yabusame Cavalry, The Spears of Shizugatake, Benkei's Blades, Gozen's Hime Heroines, Tokitaka's Tanegashima, Seigen's Swordmasters, Tadakatsu's Tetsubo Warriors, and Hanzo's Shadows.
The Sengoku Jidai Unit Pack and the Dragon War Battle Pack are also part of the package. This guide does not break down their individual units.
The Blood Pack adds dismemberment and blood effects. It is a toggle in the options menu, so you can play with or without it. On Steam, the Blood Pack is excluded from the bundle because of its age ratings.
Fall of the Samurai faction packs
Fall of the Samurai includes four faction packs. Each one gives its faction a different play style.
| Faction pack | Known bonus | Play style at a glance |
|---|---|---|
| Saga | Artillery accuracy, cheaper ships and an industry bonus | Artillery and naval economy |
| Obama | Cheaper land upkeep, higher tax and repression | Land control and steady income |
| Tsu | Ninja and shinobi bonuses, plus allegiance conversion | Espionage and conversion |
| Sendai | Diplomacy bonus and faster sieges | Diplomacy and sieges |
Relations with America, Britain and France also affect recruitment and technology in this campaign, so check those relationships before you plan your army.
What the Steam bundle includes
On Steam, buying the Complete Edition also includes the original Total War: SHOGUN 2 and all of its DLC, with the Blood Pack as the one exception. Buying on the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store or GOG includes the Complete Edition only.
The Complete Edition is a separate product from the original game, so the Steam bonus is a purchase bonus, not a free update. Existing Steam owners of the original game receive any legacy DLC they do not already own at no cost. They also get a 75% loyalty discount on the Complete Edition, which runs from launch until November 12, 2026, at 16:00 GMT. Standalone sales of the original game on Steam ended on September 28, 2026, but its store page stays live and the game remains playable for existing owners.
For the purchase details, see the official Steam store page. If you are still deciding what to play first, the new clans guide covers the minor factions, and the price guide explains the purchase options.
